Paul Schwarm of Servpro vacuums one of the rooms inside the building that houses Durango Big Picture High School and The Liberty School on Jan. 7 after melted snow and ice on the roof made its way inside.
The building’s second floor was not affected when ice and water on the roof found its way into the walls Jan. 7, forcing Big Picture to abandon the lower floor, Christian Helmen, the Liberty head of school, said.
But Liberty had to relocate to accommodate restoration of the damaged section, Helmen said Monday.
The school’s 22 gifted and dyslexic students (some are both) found temporary quarters at StoneAge Waterblast Tools at the Animas Air Park.
Big Picture classes also are set to resume Tuesday.
